A delightfully effervescent bath fizzer containing a generous helping of oil to moisturise the skin, and essential oils to relax or enhance the senses.
During spring/summer months I like to use fresh, zesty and floral essential oils and during autum/winter months I will often use warm 'spiced' blends. I do not use any colourants, glitter or mica in my Bath Fizzers so are white or cream in colour (depending on oils used especially sweet orange, vanilla or benzoin).
1kg Sodium Bicarbonate,
500g Citric Acid,
250ml Carrier Oil (Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil etc)
150 drops Essential Oil/s.
Sample blends of essential oils:
~ Rose Geranium
~ Vanilla Absolute & Vetiver
~ 'G&T' Juniper, Lemongrass & Lime
~ May Chang (smells like Sherbert Lemons)
~ Patchouli & Vetiver
~ Frankincense, Myrrh & Benzoin
~ Spiced Orange (sweet orange, ginger, clove, nutmeg & cinnamon)
Sift sodium bicarbonate and citric acid into a large glass bowl. Mix thoroughly together and make a well in the centre.
Pour carrier oil into a glass measure.
Carefully count out your selection of essential oils drop by drop into the carrier oil. Stir with a glass stiring rod.
Slowly add oil mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing thoroughly until the consistancy of damp sand (roughly holds together if you squeeze it in your hand).
Use a small 3-4cm bath bomb mould... over fill each half and press tightly together.
Carefully remove bath fizzer from mould - this will be quite delicate. Set aside to dry on parchment paper. This mix will make approx 18/20 fizzers.
Once dry store fizzers in an air-tight container.
To use, just pop one into a bath. Lay back and relax.
